Check the Approved Appliance List

If you plan to bring appliances for your dorm or annex room, be sure to check if they’re on the list of approved appliances from Housing.

Appliances such as hair dryers, curlers, irons, clothes steamers, and electric blankets are allowed, but other heat-producing electrical appliances are not. The list details the coffeemakers, kettles, iced tea makers, and popcorn poppers allowed in dorm and annex rooms.

Buy them Online

You should bring pillows, blankets, a mattress cover, sheets, towels and washcloths. Beds in the Graduate College and annexes require extra-long, twin sheets.

Extra-long linens are available online at the Princeton Student Agencies or the Princeton University Store websites. In both cases you can order them in advance and pick them up when you arrive on campus.

Keep them on Hand

The University cleans the public spaces in all dorms and annexes, including the hallways, common rooms, and common bathrooms, but you are responsible for cleaning your room and your private bathroom if you have one.

Having cleaning supplies on hand—a dust mop, glass cleaner, general purpose cleaner, and paper towels—will help you keep up with it. Building Services provides cleaning supplies for suites.
