Rockefeller College

Rockefeller College

Rockefeller College is named after its distinguished benefactor John D. Rockefeller III. It was established in 1982 and sought to create a learning community that integrates social and curricular affairs. The buildings on the western side of Holder Courtyard house the college’s social, dining, and academic facilities. Beautiful high ceilings and gothic design make “Rocky” stand out.

The college features a theater, a library, a darkroom, TV and game rooms, a computer cluster, laundry rooms, and a kitchen located in Witherspoon Hall. The Rocky-Mathey Theater is often used for seminars and discussions, and hosts several productions each year.

The Lawrence S. Rockefeller Library is located in Hamilton Hall and is a popular place to study for both Rocky and Mathey students. Many scenes in the 2001 Academy Award winning movie “A Beautiful Mind” were filmed in Rockefeller College.
