Construction

Various construction projects to support the University’s goals of expanding its student body and achieving carbon neutrality by 2046 will be underway during academic year 2021-’22.  The following projects should be considered as you select your room for the upcoming academic year.

Perelman/College 8 (areas impacted: Butler College, Scully Hall)

Residential Colleges south of Poe Field has begun and will continue until the Summer of 2022. The site is fully enclosed and any pedestrian traffic should divert to Elm Drive or the path adjacent to the Neuroscience building. Construction activities will occur between 7am and 6pm on weekdays and 7am and 3:30pm on Saturdays.  Pedestrian and ADA pathways will continue to be subject to incremental re-routing.

Hobson College (areas impacted: First College, Patton-Wright Hall)

Enabling work will include various tests and probes and the re-routing and movement of underground pipes and infrastructure will occur.  This work is in anticipation of the start of Hobson College construction in summer 2022.  Construction activities will occur between 7am and 6pm on weekdays and 8am and 4pm on Saturdays.  Pedestrian and ADA pathways will be subject to incremental re-routing.

Art Museum (areas impacted: Brown Hall, Dod Hall, 1903 Hall, Feinberg Hall, 1937 Hall)

Construction activities will occur between 7am and 6pm on weekdays and 8am and 4pm on Saturdays. By Fall 2021, day-to-day construction will possibly include demolition of the existing structure.  Pedestrian and ADA pathways will be subject to incremental re-routing.  Increased construction vehicle traffic will also be seen.

Hot Water Conversion (areas impacted: campus-wide)

Utility piping to convert the University’s steam system to a more sustainable hot water system will be installed throughout campus.  Construction activities will occur between 7am and 5pm on weekdays and 8am and 4pm on Saturdays. Pedestrian and ADA pathways will be subject to incremental re-routing.  Increased construction vehicle traffic will also be seen.
