Transitioning to a fully integrated four-year residential college system Key benefits: Further enhances sense of community and cross-class connections for all undergraduate students. All residential colleges will have some housing available for upperclass students, which will allow them to continue living in their residential college if they wish. Juniors and seniors will have the option to continue living in their assigned residential college or to live in unaffiliated upperclass housing. Expanded opportunity for first-year students and sophomores to meet and engage with more upperclass students and participate in a broader range of college-based academic and non-academic programs. New College West and New College East opening this fall Key benefits: Newly constructed, state-of-the-art buildings that include distinct features and signature spaces. Both colleges will integrate into an existing vibrant community-building residential college environment providing students with a home to support their educational needs. Each college will have its own character while sharing important features such as dining areas and some indoor and outdoor common areas. While unique in their own ways, the new colleges will still provide opportunities and resources available at the other six colleges, such as resident graduate students, a faculty-in-residence, dining halls with private dining rooms, communal kitchens, and college office suites to maximize formal and informal interactions with students. More room draw options for juniors and seniors – the addition of the two new colleges will provide additional beds to support the four-year college system transition. Learn more about New College West and New College East. Board plan requirement updates will be provided for the Class of 2026. Eating club members will now have access to the residential college experience.
